I realize it’s a bit late for the weekend update, given that we’re already halfway through the current week, but we had such amazing music that happened this weekend that I didn’t want to just skip it.
Over the weekend, we had three consecutive days of wonderful performances by our students. On Friday evening, we had our first student recital of the summer. It was one of the best student recitals many of us can remember. It was so great to have so many students ready to jump in and perform solo pieces so early in camp! Saturday afternoon, we had our annual auditions for the Yellow Springs benefit concert. There were an amazing number of performers and an exciting amount of musical diversity. I believe the decision was a very hard one for the committee to make!
Then on Sunday, we had our first big groups concert. It was short and sweet but all the groups sounded truly wonderful. Once again, everyone managed to pull together some impressive music in the little time they had been here so far.
Now we are well on our way to the next slew of concerts, including our goodbye concerts with the two-week campers!
