Here are the details about our upcoming performances:
On Saturday, July 27, we will give our annual benefit concert in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Yellow Springs is the home of FMC’s founders, including Peg Champney, who remains one of our co-directors. We give our concert entitled “Musicians for Justice and Peace” to benefit the Glen Helen Association, a conservation organization located in the town. “The Glen” has an ecology center and acres of woods and park with beautiful hiking trails. For more information about Glen Helen and the work they do, please visit their website at www.glenhelen.org. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is held at Mills Lawn Elementary school. Please contact the Glen Helen Association for information about tickets to the concert.
After our exciting trip to Yellow Springs, we’ll have one more week of camp before our final marathon weekend of performances. Here’s the schedule of events for the final weekend. Most performances will take place in the Main Building Collection Room; other performance locations for Saturday, August 3 will be posted around campus.
THURSDAY, August 1 — 7:30 p.m. – First performance of Godzilla, this year’s musical theater production, created by director Corrie Van Ausdal (a blog post about this coming soon!)
FRIDAY, August 2 — 7:00 p.m. – Student Recital – students will perform on this recital if their parents will arrive by Friday evening OR if their parents are not coming at all; otherwise, they will perform on Saturday’s recitals
SATURDAY, August 3
1:00 p.m. – Concert, including string orchestra, concert band, jazz band and chorus
Approximately 3:00 p.m. and after – student recitals; campers are only required to attend recitals that they are playing in; they are allowed off-campus with parents if they are not in a recital
6:30 p.m. – Dinner: Campers must eat dinner on campus; families are welcome to join us at $7.50 per adult and $4.00 for children (please email or call to let us know you’re coming so we can give the kitchen an accurate number)
8:00 p.m. – Final performance of Godzilla with post-program refreshments for all
After the performance, the campers help to take down the show and then have a final singalong and late collection as part of their final night together.
SUNDAY, August 4
Morning – campers leave. Most campers are gone by mid-morning.
A lot of work will go in to making these performances great! I hope we’ll get to see some of you on one weekend or the other.
