Every year, we look forward to our chance to give back to the wider community. While I strongly believe that playing music itself is a form of “giving back,” many musicians around the world also use their performances to raise money for organizations or to raise awareness for causes, and we do our part to join them. Since the earliest days of FMC, the third weekend of camp has been devoted to a concert whose proceeds would benefit some organization. For many years, the concert has benefited the Glen Helen Association, a nature preserve in Yellow Springs, Ohio, where our co-director Peg Champney lives. Glen Helen is a really important part of Yellow Springs, and we like being able to give back as musicians in this way.
This year’s concert will take place on Saturday, July 28, at 7:30 p.m.; Mills Lawn Elementary school is our location, and tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12. Please contact the Glen Helen Association, not Friends Music Camp, for tickets.
